About Us

Scrub Ecology Ltd is a leading native re-vegetation nursery and environmental restoration company. We specialize in all aspects of ecological restoration, including seed eco-sourcing, plant propagation, planting implementation, weed control, maintenance, and monitoring. Our nursery is a cornerstone of our restoration efforts, producing over 1 million high-quality eco-sourced native plants annually. We are seeking a fit and enthusiastic individual to join our nursery team and contribute to the success of our restoration projects.

About the Role

This is a general nursery position, offering a variety of responsibilities that are critical to supporting plant production and ecological restoration.

Key duties include:

• Assisting the nursery production team during the summer season, focusing on potting and laying out plants.
• Grading and preparing plants for dispatch.
• Maintaining plant health through watering, weeding, staking, and trimming.
• Supporting seed collection, seed cleaning, and propagation activities.

We are looking for someone who brings:

• An interest in production horticulture, ideally with prior experience in a similar role.
• Physical fitness and strength, as this role involves lifting, carrying, and other physically demanding tasks.
• A passion for New Zealand’s native plants and the environment.
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to fit into a diverse and fun team environment.
• Self-motivation and independence, with the ability to set personal goals while working as part of a team.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transport, as public transport is not available in our area.

Location

Our nursery is based in Wainui, approximately a 15-minute drive from Silverdale or 30 minutes from Albany.

Working Hours

This is a permanent, full-time role with hours from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Flexibility in working hours may be possible for the right applicant.
