Alternative Med Farm Health Services is seeking Farm Workers specializing in harvesting for a full-time, permanent position at our Campbellville location. Responsibilities and Duties

As a Farm Worker – Harvesting, your responsibilities include:

  • Crop Care and Fertilization: Applying fertilizers and using hoeing techniques to ensure proper growth, managing growth of vines, vine canopy, and crops like grapes.
  • Harvesting and Sorting: Hand harvesting, grading, and packing fruits and vegetables, while dividing produce into marketable and non-marketable lots.
  • Field Maintenance: Clearing brush, wood, and stones from fields, maintaining clean work areas, and leveling earth to meet fine-grade specifications.
  • Climate and Water Management: Monitoring water lines, air flow, and temperature to meet crop growth needs; managing water saturation levels.
  • Miscellaneous Tasks: Tasks such as weeding, seed cutting, and removing suckers and water sprouts are essential for plant health and harvest quality.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This is an on-site position requiring work in diverse field conditions. The work environment includes outdoor farming of miscellaneous crops, with conditions that may vary between hot, wet, dusty, or cold. Candidates should be prepared for:

  • Physical Demands: This role includes repetitive tasks, lifting and handling heavy loads, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Attention to Detail: Precision and attention to detail are essential in tasks like grading produce by size, shape, and quality, which directly impact market value.

Skills and Experience

  • Language Requirement: English.
  • Education: No formal degree, certificate, or diploma is required.
  • Experience: Candidates with 1 to less than 7 months of experience are preferred, but training will be provided for those eager to learn and grow in the field of agriculture.
