About CONNECT GROUP:

CONNECT GROUP is seeking up to 60 hardworking, physically fit, and reliable workers for the 2025 watermelon harvesting season in the Katherine, Northern Territory. This role involves working in hot and demanding conditions, where commitment and physical endurance are essential. Job Description:

• Role: Fruit Picker (Watermelons & other crops)
• Season: February 2025 to December 2025
• Location: 20km from Katherine CBD, NT (No public transport available)
• Hours: Mon-Fri with possible weekend shifts; Average 8-12 hours/day for 7-9 months
• Work Conditions: Outdoor/indoor; Heat, humidity, and possible wet conditions

Key Responsibilities:

• Manual picking of watermelons and other crops based on size, color, and ripeness.
• Discarding rotting and overripe fruits as instructed.
• Sorting fruit into various grade standards.
• Performing general farm duties like weeding, pruning, and planting.
• Regular lifting (6-12kg) and constant walking, bending, and straightening.
• Adhering to safety protocols and following instructions from the grower.

What You’ll Need:

• Availability: Must be available Mon to Fri with some weekends, starting February 2025.
• Physical Fitness: Physically demanding with heavy lifting, walking, bending, and endurance in various weather conditions (hot, dry, or wet).
• Attention to Detail: High level of concentration and good eyesight (no color blindness).
• Previous Experience: Outdoor physical activities or similar lifestyle habits will be highly regarded.
• Reliable and Flexible: Willingness to work long hours, early starts (between midnight – 03:00 am) during peak heat.
• Location: Must be able to travel to or reside in the Katherine NT area (no public transport available).
