ORCHARD WORKER – ROSEWOOD ORCHARDS

Join a thriving, large-scale orchard operation in the heart of Hawkes Bay! We are based near Hastings and Napier, with orchards located in Meeanee, Twyford, and Havelock North.

FarmRight Ltd acts as the Portfolio Investment Manager for the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, overseeing over 18,400 hectares of agricultural and orchard land nationwide. At FarmRight, we prioritize sustainable practices, value our people, and invest in projects with mutual benefits. Since 2017, our operations have expanded into horticulture and viticulture, with a focus on acquiring and managing commercial rural properties.

Our Rosewood Orchards, located in Meeanee, Twyford, and Havelock North, manage 80 hectares primarily cultivating Envy and Jugala apple varieties. These orchards feature modern structures and cutting-edge technology, ensuring productivity and sustainability.

About the Role

We’re seeking motivated individuals to join our team and support operations at Rosewood Orchards. With the guidance of a skilled operational team, this role offers excellent opportunities for personal and professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out harvest operations, ensuring high-quality standards and minimal crop damage.
  • Prune and thin trees to promote growth and optimize fruit production.
  • Monitor trees daily for pests and diseases, reporting issues to the manager.
  • Assist in maintaining irrigation systems and implementing weed control programs.
  • Perform general orchard maintenance tasks under supervision.
  • Support seasonal operations as directed by the Orchard Manager.
  • Collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently while following safety protocols.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience working outdoors or in a similar role.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a proactive problem-solving attitude.
  • Experience operating machinery and equipment is an advantage.
  • Valid New Zealand driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
  • Familiarity with Global GAP standards is beneficial but not essential.
