Key Responsibilities and Duties
As a Plant Maintenance Worker at First Choice Foods, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Floor and Hallway Maintenance: Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax floors, hallways, and stairs to maintain a clean environment.
- Waste Management: Regularly empty trash cans and other waste containers to ensure tidiness and hygiene within the plant.
- System Repairs and Adjustments: Conduct minor repairs and adjustments to essential building systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical.
- Coordination with Contractors: Contact and coordinate with contractors for complex repairs and general maintenance tasks.
- Appliance Repairs: Perform minor appliance repairs as required to ensure all equipment operates smoothly.
- Safety Inspections: Carry out routine safety and security checks throughout the plant to ensure compliance and protect employees.
- Furniture and Equipment Moving: Safely move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Routine Maintenance: Handle other essential maintenance tasks, including painting, drywall repair, and general facility upkeep.
- Sanitation of Facilities: Clean and disinfect bathrooms, sinks, and fixtures to ensure compliance with cleanliness standards.
- Independent Work: Ability to work with minimal supervision, demonstrating responsibility and reliability in task management.
Candidate Requirements
- Language Requirement: Proficiency in English.
- Education: No formal degree, certificate, or diploma required.
- Experience: Previous experience is considered an asset, though not required. First Choice Foods is open to training individuals new to this field.
Work Conditions
- Location: The role is fully on-site at the plant in Burnaby, BC, with no remote options available.
- Shifts: Day, evening, early morning, and morning shifts are available to accommodate various schedules.
