The Opportunity

The Auckland Domain welcomes over one million visitors annually, making it a key destination for locals and tourists alike. We take pride in creating and maintaining vibrant gardens filled with a diverse array of exotic and native New Zealand plants for everyone to enjoy.

We’re looking for an experienced horticulturist to share their expertise with visitors and mentor emerging gardeners, including trainees participating in our horticultural development programmes. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a team to maintain and enhance our plant collections and garden spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain amenity gardens using a variety of tools and equipment.
  • Introduce and label plants appropriately.
  • Keep accurate records of garden-related data.
  • Engage with garden visitors, Friends of the Domain, local user groups, iwi, stakeholders, and commercial users.

About You

If you love working outdoors, enjoy getting your hands dirty in all weather conditions, and are physically fit, this role could be perfect for you! Experience or qualifications in horticulture would be advantageous, along with a passion for cultivating both native and exotic plants.
